Dr. Gayle Civish PhD

Dr. Gayle Civish is a licensed psychologist who has been in private practice since 1983 after receiving her PhD from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has worked in an urgent care setting, in hospitals, with elder care providers, and with alternative education to support a more expansive view of student learning.

Dr. Civish has served on the Boards of the Colorado Psychological Association and the Feminist Therapy Institute. She also has been the Ethics Chair of the Colorado School Psychologists, as well as newsletter editor for the American Psychological Association’s Division 12 (Clinical Psychology) Section 4.

In a traditional practice, Dr. Civish has noted the influences of the spiritual experience and has encouraged people to include this invisible aspect into their sense of self. She trained in hypnosis in 1989 with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and when appropriate she has utilized this tool with its many varied applications for healing. It has been a natural extension of Dr. Civish’s practice to include Past Life and Between Life Regressions. In addition, Dr. Civish is conducting a study of the personal spiritual experiences of seminary students. She suspects that these students, like so many of us, have extraordinary experiences that they dare not reveal for fear of being ridiculed or called crazy.

It is an exciting time to practice psychology as the field matures to include all that is naturally human.
